- עֲקַץch. sam(עקץtail, point, peduncle), to sting. Targ. Y. Deut. 8:15.Bekh.31b מאן דעָקֵיץ לִיעַקְצֵיהוכ׳ (Rashi: מאן דעקץ תְּעַקְצֵיה; Ar. מאן דעֲקַס עֲקַסְתֵּיה) let a scorpion sting him who stings (stung), i. e. he who ignored me deserves to be excommunicated.
